Starkey Gap Trail
- Project Type: Transportation
- Sub-Project Type: Sidewalks and Paths
- Design Year: 2015, 2017
- Client: Florida Department of Transportation
- Address: Pasco County, FL
This project included roadway design and multiple agency coordination for the new 2.7-mile asphalt shared use path, which connects the Pinellas Trail to the Starkey Trail in Pasco County. The project traverses Duke Energy Right of Way for 2.1 miles and involves coordination efforts with Duke Energy, Pasco County, Pinellas County, and four private landowners. In addition, the trail’s alignment was established to meet Duke Energy guidelines for trails within Duke Energy Right-of-Way while minimizing impacts to existing wetland lands, the 100-Year FEMA Flood Plain, and over 100 gopher tortoise burrows.
